🚨 Big News: Modern Stone Age is Here! 🚨
We’ve been hinting at a big change, and it’s finally time to share—Modern Stone Age is officially here as our new, unified brand!
Over the past four years, we’ve grown tremendously—thanks to your support—refining our mission, expanding our kitchen and food lab, and learning how to best serve our community. Now, we’re bringing everything together under one name, streamlining our websites, social media, and brand to create a more user-friendly and powerful experience.
What’s Changing?
Modern Stone Age will now serve as our overarching brand, uniting:
✔️ The Kitchen – Our sourdough bakery, scratch-made restaurant, and coffee shop
✔️ The Food Lab – Our research and education hub
✔️ The Sanctuary – A peaceful retreat and B&B
✔️ The Podcast – Coming this spring!
Everything will soon live under ModernStoneAge.com—our new website launching soon!
A New Logo with Deep Meaning
With this evolution, we’re also introducing a new mark—one that’s clean, versatile, and deeply meaningful. While our original fire, stone axe, and chef’s knife will always be part of our story, we’ve worked closely with Philamedia and Matt Parker to create a refined symbol that reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re headed.
At first glance, the new logo forms an “M” for Modern Stone Age—the single brand that now unifies all we do. But there’s even more behind it:
🪨 Three stone elements
These represent the foundation of our work, with each piece leaning on and building upon the others—symbolizing ancestral techniques adapted for the modern world.
🔨 The foundational stone – The first of the three stones is shaped after the Lomekwi Tool, the oldest stone tool ever discovered. This tool marked a pivotal moment in human history—the first technology that allowed our ancestors to process food in ways that fueled our evolutionary journey. It represents the deep history of food preparation that continues to inspire everything we do today.
📍 A Hands-On Connection – In March 2018, we had the privilege of holding a cast of the Lomekwi Tool at the Nairobi National Museum. Seeing and feeling this piece of history firsthand was an unforgettable moment that deepened our connection to ancestral food traditions. Check out the photo of Bill and the family in the museum to see this incredible link between past and present! Pretty cool to see how the artifact is literally the cornerstone of all we are doing when we do an overlay!
You’ll start seeing this new mark on merchandise, packaging, and even on our bread in the coming weeks, and we can’t wait for you to be part of this next chapter with us.

What’s Next?
Stay tuned for the launch of our new website (modernstoneage.com), where everything will be housed under one roof—easy to find, easy to access, and always focused on real, nourishing, scratch-made food, classes, and learning!
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We couldn’t do it without you!
